SGT Thomas "Tommy" Anthony Lazzaro

June 15, 1997 – December 22, 2024

Tommy Lazzaro grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he attended Pine Creek High School and excelled both academically and athletically. A gifted football player, Tommy was a proud member of the Pine Creek High School team that captured the Colorado State Championship in 2013 and 2014. After graduating, he continued his education and athletic career at Central Michigan University, serving as the starting quarterback and earning a bachelor’s degree in business. His leadership on the field helped guide CMU to victory in the 2019 MAC Championship.

After college, Tommy followed his passion for service and joined the United States Army, where he became a member of the elite 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne). A skilled and dedicated soldier, Tommy completed rigorous training, including the Special Forces Qualification Course as a Weapons Sergeant and the Manned Portable Stinger Missile Operator Course. His contributions to his Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) were instrumental, enabling the team to complete over 32 live-fire exercises, including joint operations with Ecuadorian Commandos and Tier 1 police personnel. He also played a key role in organizing and executing major training initiatives, including a 100-mile Appalachian Trail trek in just four days.

Tommy’s dedication, humility, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was deeply loved by his family, including his parents, Thomas A. Lazzaro III and Lisa A. Lazzaro; his sister, Lexie Lazzaro; and his fiancée, Kaley Lynch. His legacy of excellence and service will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

A celebration of Tommy’s life will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, followed by interment at Beal Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
